Originally back in the day handles were cast. The casting process was an effective way to have consistency in the handle design. Not perfect but certainly less individual. These days with modern machinery door handles are manufactured differently and more uniform. The old ways fading into the past. Except some door handle manufacturers retain the old ways.
Cast products can contain marks or blemishes that result from the casting process giving them a more organic or rustic finish than an engineered product.
CHANT is one company that still produces cast door handles the old fashioned way. They are not everyone's ideal but for those that like to be individual and unique, CHANT have the goods.
