Lockdown April 2020 Social Distancing
Category : Door Hardware
Date : 30/03/2020

The COVID19 virus has hit Australia and is spreading.

WHO and the Governement has requested we keep our distance and we wash our hands regularly. More regularly than ever before.

Architectural Design Hardware remains open and on alert.

CLEANING

Cleaning is an essential part of disinfection and protection.

Organic matter can inactivate many disinfectants. Cleaning reduces the soil load, allowing the disinfectant to work. Removal of germs such as the virus that causes COVID-19 requires thorough cleaning followed by disinfection.

The length of time that SARS-COV-2 (the cause of COVID-19) survives on inanimate surfaces will vary depending on factors such as the amount of contaminated body fluid e.g. respiratory droplets or soiling present and environmental temperature and humidity.

Coronaviruses can survive on surfaces for many hours but are readily inactivated by cleaning and disinfection.

It is good practice to routinely clean surfaces as follows:

  • Clean frequently touched surfaces with detergent solution.
  • Clean general surfaces and fittings when visibly soiled and immediately after any spillage.

We ask customers to wash their hands entereing our showroom and leaving our showroom.

Soap and water can be used for hand hygiene at any time and should be used when hands are visibly soiled. Alcohol-based hand rub (sanitiser) can be used if soap and water are not readily accessible, except when hands are visibly soiled. Cleaning hands regularly also helps to reduce environmental contamination.

Please keep your distance. 2 metres is now requested.

Covid-19, Coronavirus, Distance

The risk when cleaning is not the same as the risk when face-to-face with a sick person who may be coughing or sneezing.

  • Avoid touching your face, especially mouth, nose, and eyes when cleaning.
  • When cleaning wear impermeable disposable gloves (if available) and a surgical mask (if available) plus eye protection or a face shield while cleaning.
  • Use alcohol-based hand rub before putting on and after removing gloves.
  • Alcohol-based hand rub should also be used before putting on and after removing the surgical mask and eye protection.

The surgical mask and eye protection act as barriers to people inadvertently touching their face with contaminated hands and fingers, whether gloved or not.

Please refrain as much as possible from handling the products on display. They will be wiped down daily but Don't Touch is a more prefered option.

Wash hands well using soap and water and dry with disposable paper or single-use cloth towel. If water is unavailable, clean hands with alcohol-based hand rub.

Covid-19, Coronavirus, Social Distance

We understand that times are difficult for everybody. We have staff with families too.

The risk of transmission of COVID-19 in these settings can be minimised through a good standard of general hygiene.

Whilst every effort will be made to continue business, we do expect delays from our Eastern States suppliers.

Your patients is also required. Delays are inevitable. Couriers are on high alert and as such are following precautionary meassures to protect themselves.

Gatherings of more than 2 people now illegal

Although the 2 people rule refers to Public Places we prefer that also applies within our showroom and safe distance are maintained.

Whether you believe in COVID19 or think you are ammuned for some youthful reason, we request that when you visit you abide by our and WHO/Government restrictions.

A wave and a nod are more than adequate for greetings and departures.

We understand that you may not wish to visit our showroom in these times of COVID19.

An email or phone call are still available. You can email an order, ask for help, and have orders deliverd to your door.

Public health expert Gerard Fitzgerald from the Queensland University of Technology said if Australia moved to a stage 3 shutdown it would send a clear message to Australians to stay home.

"Closing down non-essential shops and services won't necessarily provide us with greater protection against the virus but it will help reiterate the message about social distancing," Dr Fitzgerald said.

How can we help prevent the spread of... COVID-19 ?

  • Wash Hands, Hand Washing, Soap

Practising good hand and sneeze/cough hygiene is the best defence against most viruses. You should:

  • wash your hands frequently with soap and water, before and after eating, and after going to the toilet
  • cover your cough and sneeze, dispose of tissues, and use alcohol-based hand sanitiser
  • practice social distancing and, if unwell, avoid contact with others (stay more than 2 metres from people).
